Mingshu Wang joins Stanford–Elsevier career-long Top 2% Scientists list

I’m pleased to share that I have been included in both the annual and career-long lists in the latest Stanford–Elsevier database of the world’s top 2% scientists. This marks my fifth consecutive annual inclusion, spanning the 2022–2026 releases, and my first inclusion in the career-long list.
Published on 7 October 2026, the latest release reports annual citation impact during 2025 and career-long citation impact through the end of 2025. Within Geological & Geomatics Engineering, my global rankings are:
- Annual impact: 439 of 82,760 researchers — top 0.53%.
- Career-long impact: 1,476 of 82,760 researchers — top 1.78%.
Among UK-affiliated researchers listed in the same primary subfield, I ranked 25th of 73 for annual citation impact.

These rankings use the database’s composite citation indicator, or c-score, excluding self-citations. Drawing on Scopus data, the indicator combines citation measures and accounts for co-authorship and author position.
Note: Graphics were generated by TOPSCINET from the Stanford–Elsevier database, using the 2026 release and 2025 citation data. The displayed rankings exclude self-citations; the displayed h-indices include them. The graphics show hm-indices at reduced precision.
The latest results also mark my strongest annual standing in the series. Annual citations excluding self-citations increased from 276 in 2021 to 679 in 2025, a rise of 146%.
My research brings together GeoAI, geospatial data science, and urban and regional research. I’m grateful to my students, collaborators and colleagues for their contributions to this work, and to the wider research community for engaging with it.
